PREPARATION

Before starting, you ensure your hands and nails are well cleaned. File your nails if necessary, so that there are no snags. By doing this you prevent damages on the face and risk of infection.

Always work using clean materials (sponges, brushes, spatulas, water bowls) and change the water regularly.

Get the subject to put on any clothes beforehand that have to be put on over the head. Protect your models clothing with a hairdressing cape or a towel.

In this example we are using Crème Make-up Pure, as this can be applied easily and blends beautifully. It covers very well.
COLOURING

Apply a blue make-up at the corner of the eye and a dark red make-up on the sunken parts. Blend the colours into each other. You can then tone down the colours using yellow make-up. To get a swollen effect you use yellow.

With a little yellow make-up under the eyebrows you suggest an overhanging effect.

Hint: yellow on top of blue results in a greenish effect, typical of an older, 'sagging' black eye, which is on the way to recovery.

Hint: to create an extra damaged effect, give the eyes a red edging along the edge of the lower eyelashes.
